WDA’s dress code ensures that our instructors will be able to see dancers’ alignment and positioning. Baggy clothing can mask bad habits, making corrections impossible. We also require skin colored or pink tights in order to make the lines of the leg more visible.
Our dress code will also teach students discipline, helping with overall focus and energy. Dress codes go a long way in minimizing distractions and help give classes a unified look.
During cold winter months, (December-March) Students are permitted to wear the following for the warm-up of their FIRST CLASS of the night or First class after a break longer than 30 minutes: Long sleeve, form-fitting sweater or shirt (NO HOODIES!) and form-fitting leggins or leg warmers (black or pink). Competitive WDA warm-ups are also permitted to be worn. If the teacher finds the warm-up to be too baggy, student will be instructed to remove. Students must take off the warm-ups immediately following warm-ups or will receive a dress code violation.
Students who do not abide by our dress code will be warned twice. On the third infraction, and any infraction thereafter, they will not be permitted to participate in their dance classes and will be required to take notes on the technique/choreography they are missing.
Clothing:
All of the following shoes and tights items can be ordered directly through Westmoreland Dance Alliance, or purchased through another dance clothing supplier. WDA recommends that all students purchase dancewear and shoes through the studio to ensure uniformity.

Glitter & Pearl Girls
  • Any color solid leotard.
  • Weissman Convertible tight in ballet pink or suntan or custom skin color
  • Weissman Stirrup tight (optional)

Long hair should be pulled back in neat bun or braid(s). Shorter hair pulled off of face with headband or clips.

Sapphire Girls

Technique Nights
  • Any solid color leotard.
  • Black Skirt or black booty shorts (optional)
  • Weissman convertible tight in ballet pink (required for ballet class)
  • Weissman stirrup tight in suntan or custom skin tone (optional)

Competitive Choreography Nights
  • Any color or print booty shorts and sports bra. At least one piece of students outfit must be black. Students may also wear any color solid leotard.
OR WDA sports bra with WDA Shorts
  • Weissman Convertible tight in ballet pink, suntan or custom skin color OR Weissman Stirrup tight in suntan

Opal & Topaz Girls

  • Any color solid leotard. (sports bras may be worn underneath)

Competitive Choreography Nights
